Late Again is an up and coming dream pop project by writer and performer Rafael Melo. Based in Brooklyn, he blends the indie rhythms of the city with textures from Brazil, the country where he was born and raised. His lyrics tell the stories of a generation in an endless search for a place to belong.
Debuting in April 2024, the project has gained traction in New York and around the world, surpassing two million streams in a few months, gathering 200k+ monthly listeners on Spotify, and being featured in a wide range of publications.
This March, Late Again started working on his upcoming EP Clearly It's All Stage. He is also setting off on his first tour across the East Coast. The first single of the EP, Ick? is always available for streaming everywhere.
Rafael is a multimedia artist working in music and film who left Brazil to start over in search of something more. Having lived in multiple cities and worked with everyone from Grammy winners to dear hermit friends, he found in Late Again a place to start anew. Late Again has collaborated with artists like composer Arthur Verocai (BADBADNOTGOOD, Hiatus Kaiyote), producer Heal Mura (Aldo, the band), and visual artists Rollinos (Toro y Moi, Metronomy) and LANDIA. Living in the same universe as artists like Still Woozy, Mac Demarco, Crumb, Clairo, and other dream pop acts, his music draws inspiration from artists ranging from Gorillaz to Caetano Veloso, passing through David Byrne and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Like its creator, Late Again is still searching for a home—and is not ready to settle.
